CLHIA was established in 1894. It’s a voluntary, non-profit industry association of life and health insurance companies operating in Canada. The association’s overall mission is to serve its members in areas of common interest, need and concerns. The Canadian life and health insurance industry protects about 24 million Canadians and makes over $48 billion a year in benefit payments to Canadians. The CLHIA also publishes guidelines concerning various aspects of insurance matters known as CLHIA Guidelines.
